I’m going acronym-happy. Medical research is full of these things: “VEGF” and “TNF” and “PDGF-beta”; “MCs”, “ECs”, and “RBCs”. They make my eyes cross. They make me long for good old-fashioned prose.
The ones I hate the most are the unpronounceable combos. You read along, and you come across something like “S1P1/EDG1”, and you stop short for ten seconds while trying to figure out how to pronounce a forward slash without actually saying “slash” like an uptight Unix programmer.
I’m going to take a break from the acronym flood with some poetry, a visit to a bar, and a visit to a party. That should do nicely.
